A year in Review

30 Dec

Holy cow… It’s hard to believe that I was here just a year ago!

What a long strange trip it’s been! In the past year I ended a long term relationship, lost my job, found a job, sold a house, quit a job, took a 2 week beach vacation (I still can’t get over that one) and move from my beloved Richmond to Philadelphia. I’ve lost nearly 30 pounds, celebrated multiple milestones with my favorite people: Engagements, Weddings, Babies. We have celebrated the highs and consoled during the lows.

Although some parts were more difficult than others, I wouldn’t change a thing. I used to think I was on a train, and I suppose I am, but for now, I am hanging out in the terminal trying to figure out which platform leads to the right path for me!

The Old Year has gone.  Let the dead past bury its own dead.  The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time.  All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!  ~Edward Payson Powell

“All I can do is be me, whoever that is” – Bob Dylan

Most of my girlfriends are going through some pretty exciting times in their lives… engagements… weddings… babies!

Me?

I just want to buy hats!

Where you can purchase for me.

Here is the reasons for my recent fur hat obsession:

  1. Philadelphia is REALLY COLD.
  2. Fur is much warmer than synthetic
  3. Fur is much better looking than a skull beanie
  4. The description is and I quote “soft and luxurious” – I could deal with a little bit of that in my life.

Don’t get me wrong… I am excited for everyone and the updates and such, but it’s like bob said “All I can do is be me, whoever that is”…. today that person is a coveter of vintage fur hats.

What a difference a year makes.

Here it is Christmas Eve 2010, and what a road it has been. I can’t help but think back to last year.

This time last year I was on a train from Richmond, heading to Baltimore for Christmas. I will be heading down to Baltimore for Christmas tomorrow morning, but things are very different this year.

Here I am a year later, not in Richmond but in Philly. Not in my house, but in someone else’s and 100% happier with the direction my life is taking! I can’t wait to see where the next year will take me!

I’ve had that Wham! Christmas song stuck in my head for weeks… seems fitting ….

“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”~Charles Dickens.

An Alice in Wonderland OBSESSION

10 Dec

I’m not sure what started it, but I have developed a full blown Alice in Wonderland obsession. I find myself drawn to all things Wonderland related and reciting “The Walrus and the Carpenter” to the kids.

Here are a few of the things that are feeding my obsession:

These fantastic illustrations by The Kildare Pooka on Etsy.

Or from WoodenDoll Etsy shop

Are you getting the stylistic theme?

A Custom Illustration from Very Prittie

Even this super fun pendant from Miss Mercy\’s Licorice Shop caught my eye.

A beautiful clothbound copy from Anthopologie

Welcome to my obsession… after all… “we are all mad here”
